В знаменитом фильме 1939 роль Скарлетт исполняла английская актриса В. Ли [Leigh, Vivien]. Le film est une adaptation du roman éponyme de Margaret Mitchell (1936), où apparaît cette phrase mais sans le mot "frankly". Aujourd'hui on utilise cette formule pour exprimer son indifférence ou bien en n'en gardant que la première partie (frankly, my dear), pour exprimer une opinion sans ambages.
